ImageYour sales tax dollars are at work when you shop in Madera, 1% of the total State sales tax is allocated for local funding. This pool of money is allocated to each county every quarter which helps pay for your local health clinics, neighborhood patrols, zoo and parks, emergency services, and our children's education.

BUY Local Kits Available at the Chamber Office

The “buy local” campaign is in full force and residents are being encouraged to keep their sales tax dollars in their local communities.   It doesn’t matter if they shop at a big-box chain store or a locally owned mom-and-pop store, as long as they shop in Madera – the money stays here.

Businesses are being asked to display red price tags in their windows with the words “Buy Local” to serve as a reminder.  Kits, including stickers, window logos and posters are available at the Madera Chamber of Commerce office located at 120 North E Street in Madera; for more information call our office at (559) 673-3563.   Please do your part by displaying the window logos and stickers.  It’s an important reminder of the “buy local” effort and one that will help our local businesses thrive.

ABOUT THE BUY LOCAL CAMPAIGN
Buy Local is an 18-month campaign within the Central Valley region, encompassing six counties - Fresno, Madera, Kings, Tulare, Merced and Mariposa.  Its goal is to raise awareness and to educate consumers of the importance of buying from shops within their own neighborhood, whether it is national chain or a locally-owned shop.

Business organizations, including the Fresno Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Department Corporation, are coordinating the effort.   The campaign includes the www.WhyIBuyLocal.com website.  Radio, TV, and print ads are running in several languages.
