TRAFFIC DETOURS TO OCCUR ON STATE ROUTE 99 IN MADERA COUNTY

Falsework operations over both directions of State Route 99 (Northbound and Southbound) near the community of Fairmead will begin Wednesday, December 3rd and Thursday, December 4th.  Detour operations will occur from 8:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. (Weather Permitting).

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces that as part of the Fairmead Interchange Project both directions of State Route 99 will be subject to detours beginning next week. The detour plan is as follows:

  • Wednesday evening:  Southbound 99 traffic will be detoured onto the new Southbound 99 off-ramp (Avenue 21½) and directed to re-enter onto the new SB 99 on-ramp.
  • Thursday evening:  Northbound traffic will be diverted onto a temporary detour route located adjacent to the southbound lanes and diverted back onto the northbound 99 lanes.

Motorists may experience delays within this area due to construction during this time and motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route whenever possible.

Caltrans would like to thank the residents and commuters for their patience during this improvement project. Please adhere to posted signage and please “Slow for the Cone Zone” in all Construction and Maintenance zones.
