SALUTE TO EDUCATION 2008

The Business and Education Committee of the Madera Chamber of Commerce hosted the annual Salute to Education events during May 2008... thank you for helping us Celebrate Education!!!

The 2008 Retired Teachers Luncheon was held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at Desmond Middle School, 26490 Martin Street in Madera. The attending retirees were welcomed by Anne Lozano, Madera Chamber of Commerce Business and Education Committee Member, Debi Bray, CEO/President, Madera Chamber of Commerce and John Stafford, Incoming Madera Unified School District Superintendent while they enjoyed lunch and conversation. Awards were presented by the Madera Division of the California Retired Teachers Association for volunteer hours and to the Volunteer of the Year, Virginia McClaran. This event is by invitation only and complimentary invitations are mailed to our Retired Educator guests. Reservations are accepted for attendees that are not retired educators for $10.00 per person; if you would like to attend this luncheon to honor them, please contact the Chamber Office at (559) 673-3563. A special thank you goes to Mike Lenneman, Principal of Jack G. Desmond Middle School, along with his staff and students, for hosting this year's festivities.

The 2008 Salute to Education Reception and Awards Celebration was held on Thursday, May 8, 2008 with a dessert reception beginning at 5:00 p.m. with the program commencing at 6:00 p.m. The event was held at Madera Community College Center located at 30277 Avenue 12 in Madera.
